Edmodo

Edmodo, "social learning platform" website for teachers, students, and parents, was founded in 2008.  It can be incorporated into classrooms through a variety of applications including reading, posting assignments, creating polls for student responses, embedding video clips, creating learning groups, posting a quiz for students to take, and creating a calendar of events and assignments.

Through Edmodo, students can turn in assignments or upload assignments for their teachers to view and grade; teachers can also annotate the assignments directly in Edmodo to provide instant feedback.

Edmodo, like other social networking sites, offers educators a chance to explore the use of social networks, media, and online formats.

As of December 2013, the Top 100 Tools for Learning site in its 2013 list shows Edmodo in 29th place behind other collaborative sites such as Twitter, YouTube, WordPress, Facebook, Moodle, Skype, Word, and Blogger/BlogSpot.
